We talk about Jesus a lot at Destiny Church. Jesus has changed our lives.

He is God, the son of God. And He is human, born of a virgin to walk among humanity and reveal the Father to us.

Jesus came to restore relationship between God and man. A relationship that we had thrown to the ground in contempt. Sin destroyed our friendship with God, but we continued to sin, regardless. Sin upon sin upon sin.

Someone needed to pay the price for all of that sin if God and man could ever be reunited. Jesus, who had never sinned, took the punishment for every sin that been done and every sin that would be done.  He was murdered. Executed for the crimes that we had committed.

Jesus willingly paid the price for our wrongdoings, because of love. Because He valued friendship with man over his temporary death.

And it was temporary. Not to be undone by death, after three days Jesus came back to life. His death purchased reunion with God. His resurrection promised that the reunion was for eternity.

Jesus’ death and resurrection wasn’t just for a day. His act of love continues to rescue humanity from our sin. Our own relationship with God is restored when we turn our back on our sin and place our trust in what Jesus did through His death. Jesus does what we cannot do for ourselves.

And a whole new life opens up to us.
