Can I bring my kids?
Absolutely! At our Saturday night gatherings, our kids join with the adults to sing a couple of songs. We then release the Preschool through Elementary ages to go to a class where they will learn about Jesus. If children prefer to stay with their parents, that’s OK too. We also like it when babies join us and if they get a bit talkative, it doesn’t bother us a bit. We do have a room where parents can take babies if they need some privacy.
Why does your venue look like a house?
Like many of the houses in the Bardstown Road area, the Destiny Church venue hasn’t been lived in for a long time. But the building’s origin as a home is one of the things that attracted us to it. We like that it doesn’t feel quite like our average church structure. It’s friendly wood floors, warm colors and old woodwork make the building welcoming. We hope you’ll be able to settle in with a cup of coffee or tea, enjoy the ambiance and connect with Jesus.
Where can I park?
We all know parking in the Highlands can be crazy, but Destiny Church has some options for you. There is quite a bit of on-street parking on Richmond Drive and since we gather after 6pm, you can also park on Bardstown Road by our building. There is also a parking lot just behind Love’s Beauty Gallery that is available for our use. So you shouldn’t have any trouble finding somewhere to park.
Why do you gather on Saturday nights?
We started out meeting on Saturday nights because it worked best for everyone’s schedule. But then we discovered that it also helped remind us that our Christianity is who we are, not just a “Sunday morning” ritual. We do plan to add a Sunday morning service in the Fall of 2012, because we realize that Saturday nights don’t accommodate everyone’s schedules.
Why are you called Destiny Church?
We believe that God has a special place in His Kingdom for each person. Our desire is to help people discover their purpose and how that fits into mission of the Church as a whole. When we’re all living out our individual destinies together, the Kingdom of God will expand and our community will be impacted.
